Inspiring Greatness at 30,000 feet
Making my way across country borders at 30,000 feet is generally fairly standard with glints of impressive cloud displays, slight bumps and pockets of air, and the consistent lack of leg room. However, there is nothing that can compare to crossing the Alps on a clear day, regardless of season. Drifting between the snowy masses of grandeur are what appear to be seas, but even the basics of geography ensure you that they are resting cloud covers, standing beneath which we think we see the caps and full majesty of the peaks.
I suppose this is just my contemplation that sometimes we think, from the ground where we stand, that we see the big picture of the challenges -mountains, if you will- that stand before us. But could it possibly be, that there is so much more to see than we realize? Throughout my work in management strategy, project development, and straining to be innovative amongst tradition, I generally consider myself to be vision-oriented. These peaks spread and sprawling before me cause me to catch my breath and consider: perhaps there's even more possibility for life than I had planned! Be that more than just a career ladder with a clear path, or perhaps a collaboration of a large scale that hasn't yet been braved. Perhaps even greater still, challenging norms and pushing for a breakthrough.
The Alps seem to be inspiring greatness from me as they have for so many historical figures, whether tyrannical or heroic. And here I thought I was just returning to Hamburg from a workshop on a Spanish island...
